You may have seen her at a creepy old ghost town somewhere in the hills of West Virginia. You may have seen her on the railroad tracks, on a big stretch of country roads, or in snow covered field. You may have seen her with a big black camera in her hand, snapping away. Just like me, she's a pro photographer, but she's from Rupert, West Virginia.

This past summer Mandy, owner of Pixel Pixie Photography, and I met up for some business portraits and had some fun with our cameras, yep, that's right we had to step out from behind the camera and come into focus! We had a blast, and posting this flashback session has me missing that green, green grass!!

I am so excited to blog the M family pictures! We had this session set up for MONTHS, and then when the date of the session rolled around, we almost had to cancel due to wind and rain. I am however, happy to say that we didn't cancel and they were troopers about the cold wind, we even cracked a few smiles out of the boys.. and captured some of their uncanny humor! Enjoy!

Love is amazing isn't it? Strong, resilient, lasting. I was so happy to meet these two who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, especially so close to my recent marriage. The bond these two have is all of those things above, you can tell just by the way they look at each other. It was so great to meet them, and all of their family. Last Saturday I met up with the LaGesse-Sarauer family at their home to shoot some family portraits! Last evening I had the pleasure of meeting Miss B for the first time, hard to believe she's two years old already! I had a ton of fun chasing little B around the park... she had a few different outfit changes... as every little girl should and each was so fitting! I'm glad we got to run through the grass and play on the slides + swings (hello little toes in sand and air).. so much fun you'll have to see for yourself.

Last week I had a fun little play date with A in Bloomer. What I loved about the session was that Mom + Dad brought along an heirloom toy horse to use in the session, which has been in the family for many generations of boys to use! To see the sheer joy on A's face while riding it, you know how much joy the toy has brought over the years, and will for years to come.

Of course, A also had to test every piece of play equipment at the park, with his favorite being the big slide - so much fun! I had a blast following A everywhere in the park, as you'll see I think he had just a little bit of fun too!

I met this lovely couple coming up on two years in November. They were newly engaged, and so in love. You may remember Britny + Nick from their fall engagement session (or you may recognize Nick from a certain TV station).

B+N are such an amazing couple, who are truly in love - just you wait and see below. It was great to be able to witness the beginning of a beautiful marriage and love. It was a gorgeous day (minus the humidity) and an even more gorgeous wedding, complete with a surprise for Nick from Britny - a performance by the UW Marching Band! Well, I think spring has finally arrived. Maybe? We did of course, just have snow this past Friday night and Saturday while I was shooting this image of blossoms I was getting pelted with some really nice Wisconsin May SLEET! Can you believe it? I think it's time for a warm up!

I can't wait to share with you some of the amazing images the next couple of weeks, and months for that fact. I have a busy summer ahead of me and I can't wait to share the images from all the weddings and senior sessions I have in store!

I just wanted to share a couple pictures with you from a fantastic little vacation that W + I took with our friends J + K last weekend.

refurbished chandelier | diy project

I'm featuring a little something that's not related to people photography, but a do-it-yourself project. Of course it includes pictures, so you can see the whole process.

Wes + I had this large ugly 70's-esque chandelier in our dining room. I was sick of looking at the gold + wood so I decided to have Wes take it down so I could refurbish it.

Your first step to refurbishing a chandelier is to take it out of your home. Make sure you turn off your electricity before doing so!

Secondly you need to use some fine-grit sandpaper to buff down all of the smooth + shiny surfaces - in this case it was both wood + metal.

Stuff the light sockets with paper or tape over them with painters tape to keep any over spray out of the sockets.

Next - paint! Using a flat spray paint is usually your best way to go. We hung our chandelier in the garage and I used three coats of black flat multi-purpose enamel.

You can re-hang your fantastic new project back in your house within a few hours to a day!

Big skies, great company and laughter. Wes and I took almost two weeks and returned to the great city of Missoula for my Rocky Mountain School of Photography Group E + F reunion. I met up with some lovely, lovely people I met two years ago while attending photography school.

Carl + Becky are two of my favorite people. I met Carl two years ago at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula Montana. His wife Becky visited often and became part of the big Group E+F family as well.

I had the chance to shoot a few images of Carl + Becky while we were in Missoula this year for our RMSP E+F reunion and I wanted to share a few with the world.

Cheers + good luck to these two wonderful souls who are embarking on an adventure this month on the John Muir trail in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California.

Zola is this really amazing lady who I had the pleasure meeting two years ago this June. She was the first person I met when I stepped into the Rocky Mountain School of Photograph y.

I shot this wedding along with Mandy Tincher who owns Pixel Pixie Photography in West Virginia. She graciously agreed to co-shoot this wedding with me in Stevens Point, Wisc.
